Rosie & Sunny

As you can see, they all get along. Rosie (black female cat) absolutely adores Stacy (our female standard poodle). She follows her around constantly.

Sunny, you've seen constantly...he's our cog (part cat part dog). Greets all newcomers and is afraid of nothing.

Stacy and Billy are 10 and 7 respectively...although Billy sitll acts like a 6 month old.

They keep us sane and laughing. In the last photo, Rosie has managed to snuggle herself between Stacy and Billy on their bed.

I have a bazillion more photos of this crazy crew but just wanted to show how well they all get along. Visitors are always amazed to see them all intertwined. Treat time is the proverbial zoo. They all get their treats after we finish dinner and impatiently huddle together by the kitchen door close to the treat stash waiting for me to finish kitchen cleanup (all four of them).

Guestbook

I've been quilting since 2005, still learning and quite addicted. I'm caregiver for my husband (MS) and work out of the house as an Accounting Manager for a telecommunications company.  Hubby and job keep me quite busy but I still manage to find time for my hobbies.

We have no children but consider our two dogs and two cats our "kids." Sunny, one of my cats, is an avid assistant and manages to work his way into all my quilting projects.

Admin

Hey Hobbystash,

Great to see you here, I am so glad you came.  Its been a great pleasure to see your work and your skill at quilting and web design!

Hi Linda,

Welcome here! Always good to meet another Linda. It used to be a very popular name when I was a kid.

Linda

Thanks Linda...thought the same thing when I saw your user name!

Sue

Hi Linda,

Welcome to All Our Quilts. I really look forward to getting to know you. I hope that you will put some of your quilts on this web site, and take part in getting to know other quilters around the world. I'm sorry to hear about your husband, that is so hard, I have had friends with this. I also in my past life did accounting, which I love.

I went to your web site, it is really nice. The patterns look great. They would be fun to make.

About where do you live? I live in upstate NY.

Hi Sue, I live in Council Bluffs, IA...and most definitely plan to post some pics and join in. Thanks for warm welcome!

Center

I'm hoping admin doesn't shoot me with this entry. Not sure the gallery was designed to handle this kind of abuse...grin. But I wanted to illustrate my quilt-as-you-go technique. It's not the traditional approach you see when searching the internet.

Basically I started with two blocks in the center. Then I quilt, Then add a round, then quilt, etc. On this one I have three more rounds before I'm done. These rounds are a variety of things...have to keep me motivated. The center blocks are traditional Navajo blocks (hence the name). The next round of blocks were paper pieced. My first ever project paper piecing. I must admit that once my befuddled mind grasped the concept, I began to save time (not so much ripping....lol) and I really enjoyed it. Then a small thin strip border and at the moment my last round is the Navajo block. You'll have to stay tuned for the remaining blocks. I'll keep adding to this post as it grows...

My "quilt" afghan

PB280022.jpg

This afghan is actually crocheted (not kintted) using Tunisian (Afghan) crochet method. This particular crochet stitch is the knit stitch. My cats loved it while I was making it as I had a lot of bobins hanging off the back for color changes and they just loved playing with them. It occurred to me to upload it after I finished my "kids" gallery which shows Rosie and Sunny sleeping on it.

Buckeye Beauty is the name of the square used for this quilt and, ironically, the last name of the recipient was also Buckeye...so needless to say, it was the perfect name for the quilt. I gave it to her two years ago for Christmas.

Here's a quilt I originally made for our living room. The pattern was a freebie i picked up at Hancock Fabrics.

Hi all,

Lynsey56 is searching for penguin and frog paper-piecing patterns. I've included one for a penguin I found in Electric Quilt. And Sue's got some great frogs...Any one else who can help?

Mike, is there a way to set up a gallery so that everyone can add images to it?

The finished quilt

Here's the t-shirt quilt I discussed on another post.

This quilt uses the traditional quilt-as-you-go approach where the squares are quilted and then assembled into a quilt. Frankly, it's not one of my favorite techniques but for several reasons was the best approach for this quilt. My sister asked me to make this quilt for her daughter for her high school graduation. My niece played softball througout grammar, middle, and high school and as a result, had quite a collection of team t-shirts. However, she's a tiny thing and the sizes of those shirts varied widely. So, I had to improvise...would have been much easier to do this for a football player!

To stop the tshirt fabric from stretching, I ironed each onto fusible light-weight interfacing. For the backing I chose to use different color blender fabrics for interest. I outlined qulted all the logos and any graphics on each shirt. Then I assembled into rows using the sashing strip method.

Finished quilt

I made this baby  from McCall's "I Love America" pattern:  http://quickquilts.com/patriotic/pp101_pattern.pdf

It is my first attempt at applique....third quilt I ever made and I was still struggling with matching seams, which the hearts covered nicely. It was also my first attempt at stippling.

Finally finished!

This is my first orginal design using Electric Quilt. I started it in October 2006 and finally finished it in April 2008 (it was packed up for half a year while we debated a move to Alabama). We tabled that idea when the housing market went south without us. And, thankfully, all the quilting goodies could be unpacked again.

I used the quilt-as-you-go when making this quilt. It's got its pros and cons. Because of my limited time, it takes me awhile to complete a quilt...longer these days than when I first started this hobby. And I enjoy breaking up the different processes of making a quilt. About the time I'm tired of piecing, I can switch to quilting and vice versa.

I learn more each time I make a quilt and am applying some painful lessons learned on this one with my next work-in-progress...
