Charm Quilt TOP

Each hexagon (1 1/4 inches on a side) is from a different fabric.

I consider this a sort of essay on the available fabrics of the late 1980s and 1990s.  I collected charm squares for years, and finally had enough to make this double bed quilt top.  All the ones that are different colorways of the same fabric were put in vertical strips, the ones with the most (14, as I recall) toward the center.  By the time you get to the edges, it's all different fabrics.

The centers are all novelty prints.

This is a twin bed size, the only one I've made.  I figured it for a child, either boy or girl.  The wording you can see toward the middle of the closeup is part of the Pledge of Allegiance.

The fabrics are all from clothing I made for myself.

This was done with English paper piecing.  The hexagons are all one inch on a side.  I get them from www.paperpieces.com
