Postcards - these are fun to do and receive.
I used my embroidery machine to do some designs on a quilt. But, I always do one first to make sure it will work and I like it. At quilt guild everyone was doing these postcards. So I got thinking that the design that I did as a test for the quilt, I could make postcards with them. I did buy a book, because I wasn’t sure how to do this.
I have mailed several off to friends, and I have received some. They are great fun to get in the mail.
I think this is the book I used. My books are downstairs in my sewing room, and until my cast comes off, my foot. I can't get down there very easily. Tomorrow, hopefully it will come off.
The picture of the quilt is in my profile called "Floral Flower Garden". I'm working on the hand quilting of it, put with the summer it is hard to have this on top of you. When it gets cooler outside it will get done.

I hadn't heard of using quilting for postcards. Interesting! I don't have an embroidery machine.
I know how it is to live with a cast! Not a lot of fun! Hope they are able to remove it.
You don't have to have an embroidery machine to make postcards. You can make any design and decorate it anyway you like. You can even send them though the mail, by taking it to the postoffice and they hand stamp it. Your quilting friends really enjoy getting them. You can do a birthday motif, by simply using material that has a birthday theme, maybe put some ribbon on it, or whatever to dress it up. The artist in you can really come out. I have more postcards, so the next time I take some pictures, I will put them up.
I love the idea. Can you explain how you do it? Do you quilt to postcard stock or glue on after? Intriguing!!
The most unusual thing I have seen come in the mail was a painted, addressed, and stamped coconut! My niece received it from her cousins in Hawaii. I heard the post office got a giggle out of it!
I haven't forgotten you guys about how to do postcards. My cast came off yesterday, hooray and all is well. Today several women got together to have a quilting day. I needed to get out and see some quilters. I had fun!!!!
I did find a web site with some instructions: www.hgtv.com/cr-quilting-other/postcard-quilt/pictures/index.html I hope this helps and gives you a better idea of what you can do. On this web site they put a binding on. I never heard of doing that, I did a large zig zag that has a small stitch length., which is faster.
The heavy inner fusible, I got from Joanne's ( used coupon, of course) I got a package called InnerFuse (double-sided stiff fusible interfacing). This is really stiff and worked great. My quilting friends said Joanne's also have it with the regular fusible. I think most quilt shops also carry it.
You make the top piece out of what ever material you like. Then fuse it to the heavy fusible. The postcard part write Post card on the center top with a center line down so the address can go on the right and your note on the left.
I took it to the postoffice and they stamped it. They love seeing them come though, and off they go.
I sent one to my granddaughter that had dogs on it. That was one of her first words "dog", she loved it.
i will take some more pictures to put up.
Let me know if you have any more quetions.
